Dr. Suro is a psychologist, author and research specializing in eating disorders- their signs, symptoms and effective treatment.
Giulia Suro, PhD, is a psychologist, published author, prominent researcher, and recognized eating disorder specialist. Since 2010, she has treated these diseases in every possible setting, beginning as a clinician in a residential inpatient program treating the most acute patients in the country. She oversaw the development and served as Clinical Director for the largest eating disorder day treatment program in south Florida. She currently treats individuals with eating disorders in her outpatient private practice. In addition to her clinical work, she is the Director of Research and Clinical Outcomes for Monte Nido, the largest and most recognized eating disorder treatment conglomerate in the country. In this role, she oversees collaborations with top researchers and academic leaders to better understand these illnesses and how to treat them effectively. In 2018, she was awarded the highest designation of Certified Eating Disorder Specialist by the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. She regularly publishes in the International Journal of Eating Disorders, the Journal of Eating Disorders, European Eating Disorders Review and Eating and Weight Disorders. Additionally, Dr. Suro has written for Psyche, Thrive Global, and Elephant Journal. In 2019, she published Learning to Thrive: An Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Workbook (Callisto, October 2019, Sales TK) that is currently endorsed and distributed by Monte Nido as their go-to text for cognitive therapy and is offered to clients in all of their locations. This workbook is based on tenants of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and translates complex cognitive principles into intuitive exercises and prompts. A graduate of Columbia University (master’s, mental health counseling, 2009) and University of Miami (PhD, clinical psychology, 2013), She lives in the Washington, DC, area.
